It made the most inhuman sound..

I went sailing one day, and came upon something very unusual that has forever since stuck with me. I was enjoying the sunset, when a small boat began to pass mine.

I have social anxiety and have been fighting a losing battle to overcome it for decades, so sometimes I challenge myself to make conversation with strangers. Unfortunately, I chose to do this on this occasion. The man I spoke to, turned his head unnaturally as if to respond, and let out the most unnatural noise I have ever heard in my life. My father has sometimes told me that there are words in Spanish, his native language, that don't translate. Well, imagine this, this sound didn't translate, to carbon based life form. It was like the man broke, and in that screeching second with a wave of static he disappeared

and I was left feeling more alone than I have ever felt in my life...

I sailed home, and never forgot my little lesson, why never to take to the sea, alone... at night.
